James

Dr. James Nichols-Senior Pastor

Dr. J grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and had a passion for three activites: football, baseball, and stock car racing. Throughout his childhood, he knew that his life's accomplishments would be filled with one or more of these activities. Between his freshman and sophomore years at Woodlawn High School, the Lord brought a new birth into his life and soon his plans took a dramatic turn. Recognizing that he now had a new Lord in his life, Dr. J. became involved in a youth group at a local church. A short time later, he felt God's call into full time Christian ministry. After High School, Dr. J. attended and graduated from Samford University and then The New Orleans Baptist Theologicial Seminary with a Doctor of Ministries degree. While attending seminary, he met his wife, Susan, and was married in May of 1982. They have three children: Sharon, Jay, and Grace. Over the years Dr. J was involved in many different activities and ministries. He is a man who is committed to his Lord, his family, and the ministry at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Dr. J's passions now include his family, the communication of God's truth, Alabama football, and yes, he is still a stock car nut.

David Fletcher-Minister of Administration

David Fletcher has served as the Minister of Education and Administration at Chapel Hill Baptist Church since 1997.  A native of Danville, Kentucky, David attended Eastern Kentucky University where he was heavily involved in Baptist Campus Ministries and met the young woman who would one day become his wife.  David accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and experienced new spiritual birth in 1975.  However, in 1984 David realized that God was asking more of him and David surrendered to God’s call to serve Him vocationally.

While attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, David married Angela Miller (Angie), his good friend from his college days.  You might say they prove the old adage that it really does matter who you hang out with and spend most of your time with.  David and Angie have two wonderful daughters:  Laura and Olivia.

David enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and listening to all kinds of great music.   When he is able, David also loves hiking and back-packing.  David’s passion in life is studying and teaching others the Bible and making disciples who are also passionate for following Christ.

Rob Livingston-Minister to Children

Rob Livingston grew up in Tamaqua, Pa.  He played baseball, he bowled, and played the tenor saxophone.  It was the saxophone that brought him to Tuscaloosa in 1997 to march in the Million Dollar Band.  Along with traveling with the Tide, he received his degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.  In 2001 he met a beautiful woman who helped introduce him to Christ. In 2002 he gave his life to Christ and was baptized. He started working at Chapel Hill’s Summer Camp that same June. Rob was a counselor for two summers before taking over as Director in 2005, a position he still holds  today.

The same beautiful girl who led him to Christ became Rob's wife in May of 2003.  Erica and Rob have two wonderful children: Henry and Coelton. Erica works as the Freshman Chemistry Lab Coordinator at the University of Alabama. When they are not working they enjoy spending time together with their two boys.

Rob has been the part time Director of Children’s Ministries since 2009. Before that he volunteered as the children’s director for two years. He has also worked with the youth for two years and occasionally still travels with them on retreats. Rob is also a full-time teacher. He currently teaches 4th grade at Huntington Place Elementary School.

Rob enjoys spending time with his family, Alabama football, and traveling.  He still enjoys bowling and dreams of bowling his 3rd perfect game someday.  Until then, he will just be happy teaching his boys how to play baseball and (just about) anything else they'd like to learn.

Justin Ray- Interim Minister of Students

Justin has been serving as interim minister of students since January 2011, where he serves alongside the most amazing group of parent and adult volunteers imaginable, and helps lead a spiritually hungry group of students who are ready to see God's glory spread to the nations.

Justin and his wife Jennifer met at the University of Alabama, where they both graduated in 2005, he with a degree in English and Psychology and she with a degree in Finance. They married and moved to New Orleans that summer for Justin to attend seminary, but were blown back to Northport by Hurricane Katrina. Starting over in their hometown, Justin began serving as minister of students at a local church. While there, Justin and Jennifer had their first daughter, Nora. In 2009, Justin felt God's call to return to school and pursue his Master's in Education. He graduated with this degree from the University of Montevallo in 2011. During this time in school, Justin and Jennifer were blessed with their second daughter, Lila.

Justin enjoys hanging out with and discipling students, playing tennis, reading, and listening to movie soundtracks. He is also an emerging harmonica player (and by emerging he means TERRIBLE). He feels honored to be serving the Lord with the students and parents of Chapel Hill.
